Museums in Delhi - Being the national capital, Delhi, expectedly, has a large number of museums. More so as it lay on the path of every invader and many of them made it their capital. The largest repository of these relics of the ages is the National Museum. The exhibits, divided in different sections, are beautifully displayed. Close to the National Museum is the Nation to the National Museum is the National Archieves that stores important manuscripts. Then there are independent museums each devoted to a particular subject, like the railways (preserving and displaying locomotives and carriages used by the Indian Railways since its earliest days), philately, arts and crafts, natural history, and even important historical personalities like Jawahar Lal Nehru and Mahatma Gandhi.

Crafts Museum

A delightful open-air museum, with Indian craftsmen at work. Here amidst the rustic surroundings of a typical Indian village, every month craftsmen from different parts India exhibit their trade. A small sales counter sells items made on the spot.

National Rail Museum

Here original engines and coaches are parked. A small toy train takes children around the museum. A small rail museum is alongside.

April to September - 9.30 am to 7 pm.
