Nagar - Another market which has almost every-thing is
Lajpat
Nagar. First it was a market in intricate lanes specializing in
cloth of all kinds - the finest silk to the coarsest cotton. Then as the
'refugee' Punjabi community (the people who came in from Pakistan when
the country was divided in 1947) that (largely) lives in the residential
area around it, grew in power and money - Lajpat Nagar in South Delhi
(20 min from city centre) became a market where you could get
everything. The brands are here too - but it is the stall selling that
dominates shopping.
