Adani Hypermarket in Ahmedabad - With 15 supermarkets already under its belt, the latest from the Adani Group is the Adani's Hypermarket. Located at Mithakhali, near the city centre and just off the Ashram Road, this shopping mall is every urban householder's dream shop. Except footwear and apparel, this two-storeyed hypermarket has nearly everything else. With green groceries, packages food, dairy products, kitchen appliances, plastic ware, confectionaries and a sweet mart on the ground floor, the first floor is reserved for stationery, cosmetics, and optician's store, music section, jewellery and traditional decorative items for home. The sweet mart has traditional Gujarati sweets like motichur laddu, mohan thal and sohan papdi and namkeen like thepla, gathia singh bhujia (a mixture of gramflour and groundnuts) and Disco Papad (small-sized papads). Most of the niche counters within the store, like the pharmacy, mobile shop, money transfer counter and the jewellery sections are operated by private businesses while for the packaged food and cosmetics, the hypermarket acts as a retailer. Being bigger and better than the earlier supermarkets, these hypermarkets (there are two more of them in the city - at Bapunagar and Kishanpur) are catching on fast with an ever-increasing urban clientele.
