The Andhra Pradesh Formation Day 2024 will be celebrated on 1 November as the state was officially founded on 1st November 1956. This date is hence remembered to remark on the anniversary of the day of the state finally coming into existence.
Andhra Pradesh Formation Day History
During the colonial period, Andhra Pradesh was a part of the Madras Province. This is when the region witnessed a very solid movement for it to become an independent state.
After this in 1953, the carving of the new state which is the regions of Rayalaseema and Andhra took place. In 1956, Telangana was added and Andhra Pradesh came into existence. Thus, Andhra Pradesh is the first state which was formed on a linguistic basis. This state is known to be the first of every state to have been formed on a linguistic basis.
Telangana Bifurcation
After a few years, there was a rise in demand for establishing a separate state for Telangana. This resulted in the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh. Furthermore, it led the Telegu Desam Party of that time to refuse to observe 1 November as the Formation Day. This was because of the separation of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. N Chandrababu Naidu, Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh in 2014, announced that Nava Nirman Deeksha will be observed every year. The dates appointed for this were from the 2nd of June to the 8th of June.
Thus, as marked by the government, 2 June was appointed as the day to remark on the state’s bifurcation. It was done with the motive to regionally resemble the government’s resolve to rebuild the state. Therefore, 8 June was the formation of the first government ever since the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh took place. Later on, in 2019, the YS Jagan Mohan Reddy government came into effect in the entire state. Under his authority, like the older times, the Andhra Pradesh Formation Day was yet again celebrated on 1 November.
Thus, after six years, the Andhra Pradesh government has finally resumed its celebration on November 1 as Andhra Pradesh Formation Day. The state has witnessed its lows and highs in its past. Formerly under British rule Andhra Pradesh was a part of Madras Province. Only after a rigid movement new state was formed in November 1956 when Telangana was added forming the first-ever linguistic State that was formed in India.
Andhra Pradesh Formation Day Celebration
The Andhra Pradesh Formation Day is a celebration last about three hours. On the other hand, in Hyderabad, it last somewhere about one hour. Here, the chief minister of the state receives the guard of honor from the police personnel. This was then followed up with the unfurling of the tricolor. He then proceeds by paying tributes to the auspicious status of Potti Sriramulu and Telugu Talli. Potti Sriramulu sacrificed his life solely for the formation of the very first Telugu state Andhra in the year 1953.
Even the prime minister of the country wishes the people of the state for their hard work and dedication. In his wish, he appreciates the amount of work that they have put in throughout their lives. Some of the important members attending the celebration are the Special Chief Secretary of Tourism and Culture and Higher Education. The chief secretary of the state also joins the celebration. The Chief Minister and other important parties of the state deliver their speeches embedding some powerful message.
