1. The Nile River

The Nile is regarded as the world’s longest river. The river is 4,132 kilometers long and spans ten nations from north to south. The Nile River flows through South Sudan, Kenya, Ethiopia, Rwanda, Uganda, Burundi, Sudan, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Tanzania, and Egypt.

Approximately 4000 miles of river flow into the Atlantic Ocean from the Amazon Basin. Flowing through South America, the river originates from the Ucayali-Apurimac River system. In terms of volume, it is one of the world’s most important rivers. This river is home to the critically endangered Amazon River dolphins.

3. The Yangtze River

According to current estimates, the Yellow River is the world’s sixth-longest river. According to the World Wildlife Fund, the river (or Huang He) originates in the Bayankala Mountains in western China’s Qinghai Province. He travels through nine provinces before emptying into the Bohai Sea.

7. The Ob-Irtysh River

The Ob River, which originates in the Altay Mountains of southwestern Siberia and flows into the Arctic Ocean, is the seventh longest river globally, with 3,364 miles.

8. The Parana River

Three thousand three hundred and thirty-two miles of the Paraná River flow from Brazil to Argentina before joining the Paraguay and Uruguay rivers to form Ro de la Plata and then flowing into the Atlantic Ocean.

9. The Congo River

Even though it’s a relatively short river (only 2,290 miles), it is the deepest in the world, according to the US Geological Survey, reaching depths over 720 feet. The Congo River begins in the African savannas- just south of Lake Tanganyika. It travels 4700 Km to finally reach the Atlantic Ocean.

10. The Amur River

Rivers have influenced the earth for millennia, providing habitat and food for species, connecting faraway towns and villages, and facilitating exploration. It travels a distance of 4480 km and then ends at the Tatar Straits.
