National Postal Day 2023

Indian Postal Day is auspiciously celebrated on the 10th of October. It is originally an extension of three Post Day which is sharply celebrated on the 9th of October. The main motive for celebrating this National Postal Day is to highlight the role that the Indian postal department usually plays for more than 150 years. The main motive for observing this day is to commemorate the vital that the Indian postal department has played in these years for more than 150 years.

This Indian Post was nothing but an extension of the World Post Day that is celebrated on the 9th of October.

Technology and India Post

There is no doubt that technology has indeed made the lives of people convenient. For example, smartphones have greatly eased the way people live as it is only because of smartphones that we have managed to contact people who live far away.

But some people are not privileged enough to afford a smartphone and for them, the most affordable way of sending messages is only through the post. In most cases, people often depend on the postman to get their messages delivered and received.

Thus, the postal department of India has been shouldering the responsibility of delivering the messages for over years and is continuing to do so.

Indian Postal Service

Undoubtedly, the Indian postal service has however played a very important role in India, and despite all the diverse culture that has been prevailing in the country, the Indian postal service has managed to give its best performance. Lord Dalhousie founded the India post in 1854 and it is functional only under the Ministry of Communication.

India’s PIN CODE system

The PIN in Pin code stands for Postal Index Number where Shriram Bhikaji Velankar introduced the 6-digit PIN system as the Union Ministry of Communications’ additional secretary on 15th August.

In the 6-digit pin code the first digit symbolizes the region, and the second digit symbolizes the sub-region. After that, the third digit symbolizes the district and lastly, the last three digits denoted the post office under which a certain address falls.

Thus, in fact of the different prevailed traditions, cultures, and such across the country, the postal service of India has managed to reach the expectations of its very customers. In terms of postal circles, India has around 23 postal circles along with  the postal zones that comprise the Army Post Office.

Apart from the Indian National Postal day, World postal Day has been commemorated in 1874 associated with the founding of the Universal Postal Union.
