Entertainment in Bhopal - The two lakes in Bhopal are a major source of recreation and entertainment. For one, their immediate environs are comparatively cooler than other parts of the city even in peak summer, and many of the city's parks and gardens are located here. The large water bodies also provide opportunities for water sports and recreation.

Mp Tourism's Boat Club on Lake Drive Road has expanded its facilities for water-sports, which include row and pedal-boating, motor boats, kayaking and canoeing, para-sailing, yachting and wind-surfing. In addition, they also run one-week courses for beginners in wind-surfing, water-skiing and canoeing.

The Kayaking and Canoeing Association of Madhya Pradesh Sports Venture too offers kayaking and canoeing facilities at the two lakes from 6-9 am and 4.30-6 pm. However, it is not a commercial venture.

The Upper Lake is skirted by an apron road running from Van Vihar almost up to the gate of Noor-us-Sabah Hotel, a distance of about 7-8 km. Clean, wide pavements border the road, for the most part.

The nearly 2 km long stretch of the road between Van Vihar and Ranjit's Lake View temporary food-stalls, too. Otherwise, cruising along the road in your car is very relaxing, specially, when you can look forward to the attractive dining-and-wining prospectus at MP Tourism's Wind and Waves; the multi-cuisine restaurant-cum-bar just opposite the Boat Club.

Kanha Fun City and Islamnagar are two great places where entertainment activities are available in plenty.
