Shah - Naseeruddin Shah is one of finest actors of India today.
Educated at the National School of Drama, New Delhi and the Film and
Television Institute of India, Pune, Naseeruddin Shah has gained fair
amount of success in both off beat and commercial cinema. Naseeruddin
Shah, along with Shabana Azmi and Om Puri, is the symbol of new Indian
cinema. By his intense performance in "Nishant", "Manthan",
"Bhumika" and "Mohan Joshi Hajir Ho", Naseeruddin
Shah established himself as a multifaceted actor. Naseeruddin Shah has
deep liking for theater. He has not only acted but also directed
numerous English and Hindi plays. In fact, theater is Naseeruddin Shah's
first love.
Naseeruddin Shah has worked with almost every noteworthy Indian
filmmaker, in a number of Indian languages and played leading parts in
international films such as Ismail Merchant's "The Perfect Murder",
"Electric Moon" (based on a screenplay by Arundhati Roy,
1992), Kaizad Gustad's "Bombay Boys" and Mira Nair's "Monsoon
Wedding". His performance as Mirza Ghalib (directed by Gulzar) in
the TV series is considered as one of the landmarks of Indian TV.
Besides playing serious and character roles, Naseeruddin Shah has deep
liking for comic roles.
Naseeruddin Shah was born in India in 1950 and introduced, in
the films, by Shyam Benegal. Other prominent movies of Naseeruddin Shah
include "Albert Pinto Ko Gussa Kyon Aata Hai", "Jane Bhi
Do Yaron", "Mandi", "Maqbool" etc.
