Raipur City Guide - Presiding over the state known for rich natural resources, Raipur, the Capital, is in the midst of all the industrial activity. Bhilai and Durg, two of the large industrial towns, are just next door. Jamshedpur, the steel city, lies just southeast of it within easy commuting distance. With its central location and good communications network, the city makes a very attractive base for commercial world. This is becoming apparent from the number of new shopping and commercial complexes coming up in the city.
Raipur is also the base for travels into the tribal regions of Chhattisgarh. Some of the oldest tribes still survive in the Bastar region, south of the city. These tribes have their unique handicrafts that have become a subject of study for leading international design schools.
