In 1983, India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Malaysia, and Singapore had founded the Asian Cricket Conference (now the Asian Cricket Council),to bring goodwill and prosperity of relations between Asian continents. Hence,the first edition was held at Sharjah Cricket Association Stadium in the UAE. Asia Cup is round robin format. The tournament takes place every 2 years.
