Jnana Yoga - Jnana is a Sanskrit word whose Hindi translation means Gyan which stands for knowledge. But the prominence of Jnana Yoga is not on attaining information but rather stands for expanding the analytical powers of the mind.
It then depends upon the system of metaphysics in practice to apply this power of analysis in a desired manner. But if we move somewhat away from the realm of Yoga philosophy, we discover that the Samkhya system of Indian philosophy mainly focuses upon understanding one's own inner self. And the non-dualist Vedanta philosophy better known as Advaita Vedanta also stresses a clear understanding of the vast difference between reality and illusion.
